Legionaries from across Scotland gather on the Feast of Pentecost to give thanks for a year of apostolic service
The Legion of Mary in Scotland gathered for its Annual Day of Thanksgiving on the Feast of Pentecost 2026 at Carfin Grotto. Legionaries from across the country came together in a spirit of gratitude and fellowship to thank God for the many blessings and works of the Legion during the past year.
The day began with the celebration of Holy Mass in St Francis Xavier Church, the main church at Carfin Grotto. The Mass was celebrated by Bishop Joseph Toal, Bishop of Motherwell, who joined the Legionaries in giving thanks for their apostolic work and witness throughout Scotland.
Following Mass, participants took part in a procession through the grounds of the Grotto. The procession commenced from the site of the Legion’s Vexillum and proceeded prayerfully through the beautiful shrine grounds. Bishop Joseph Toal joined the Legionaries in the procession, adding to the significance of the occasion.
The Annual Thanksgiving provided an opportunity for members from different parts of Scotland to meet, pray, and renew their commitment to the mission of the Legion of Mary. The gathering reflected the spirit of Pentecost, as Legionaries united in faith and devotion, seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit for their ongoing apostolate.
The day was marked by prayer, thanksgiving, and joyful fellowship. As the Legionaries departed, they carried with them renewed enthusiasm for their service to the Church and confidence in God’s continued blessings upon the work of the Legion of Mary in Scotland.
